Cosequin DS for dogs is a double strength supplement that helps maintain healthy joints.  It does not have the harsh side affects that accompany some prescription medications.  Cosequin DS helps maintain joint and cartilage tissue health.

Usual Dose
Cosequin DS OTC for dogs

·         Dogs 10 lbs. and under – 1/2 capsule daily

o   Can be reduced to every other day after initial 6 weeks

·         Dogs 10-24 lbs. – 1/2 capsule in the morning and 1/2 capsule in the evening

o   Can be reduced to 1/2 capsule daily after initial 6 weeks

·         Dogs 25-49 lbs. – 1 capsule in the morning and 1 capsule in the evening

o   Can be reduced to 1 capsule daily after initial 6 weeks

·         Dogs 50-100 lbs. – 2 capsules in the morning and 1 capsule in the evening

o   Can be reduced to 1 or 2 capsules daily after initial 6 weeks

·         Dogs over 100 lbs. – 2 capsules in the morning and 2 capsules in the evening

o   Can be reduced to 2 capsuled daily after initial 6 weeks

Precautions

  • Side effects are rare but may include diarrhea
  • Consult with your vet if your dog is diabetic
